Another advantage demonstrated by the 2018 Kia Sorento over the competing 2018 Mazda CX-9 is in available powertrain options. Kia of St. Cloud customers looking at the 2018 Sorento will have three engine options to consider, which is dependent on which of the trims grades they choose. The standard setup is a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter, four-cylinder engine making 185 horsepower. EX models can be outfitted with a 240-horsepower, turbocharged, 2.0-liter engine. Buyers can also choose to have a 3.3-liter, V-6 making 290 horsepower and 252 pound-feet of torque equipped with LX and EX trims. The SX and SX Limited versions have the V-6 as standard equipment.

For comparison purposes, the 2018 Mazda CX-9 is only available with a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine.
